Foetal/Fetal Medicine - Comparatively a new stream of medical science, Foetal or Fetal Medicine, commonly known as Fetology in medical science is a study of the growth, development, care, and treatment of the foetus, and of environmental factors harmful to the foetus.

Only in the past few decades has the foetus been considered as apt with the establishment of separate foetal medicing unit. This involves services of a foetal medicine specialist who focuses on prenatal diagnosis, prognosis and the foetal procedures involved in the diagnosis and treatment. It has a high risk obstetric unit and neonatal care unit at the same centre. At Pratap Prasuti Grih, we can diagnose more accurately and provide more effective treatment of medical, surgical, genetic problems during pregnancy.

Foetal Medicine Unit is one of the most important and high significance departments of the Pratap Prasuti Grih. The laboratories are equipped with latest generation ultrasonographic devices. All examination rooms have the infrastructure that allows the conduct of prenatal tests.

The department performs the following ultrasonographies.

• Nuchal Translucency Measurements.
• Detailed ultrasonographic scans (2nd level) checking for congenital embryonic abnormalities
• Repetitive ultrasounds for monitoring of diagnosed congenital embryonic abnormalities
• Doppler ultrasonography blood flux test in embryos, in the placenta and foetal development scan
• Transvaginal ultrasonography for cervical length scan and premature delivery possibility detection
• High risk pregnancy monitoring

Prenatal diagnostic and therapeutic endometrial ablations are performed as well.

• Chorionic villus sampling (CVS)
